ITPS Director and Public Historian Dr. Nora Slonimsky and Dr. Michael Crowder serve on the New York State America 250 organizing committee, chaired by New York State Historian Devin Lander, which has convened since 2019 to organize commemoration events, and to develop frameworks for commemorating New York State’s diverse history. the ITPS’ 2019 Patriot’s Day event and 2020 and 2022 biannual conferences all share a focus on developing new ways of thinking about Revolutionary Era commemoration practices.

Dr. Crowder also serves on the Board of Revolutionary Westchester 250, led by president Constance Kehoe, which has organized events across Westchester County since 2018. From The Jay Heritage Center in Rye, New York, to the Philipse Manor in Yonkers, Revolutionary Westchester 250 hosts events that bring the county’s revolutionary past to public audiences.
