Co-Sponsored by the Institute for Thomas Paine Studies and the Thomas Paine Cottage Museum, Dr. Mark Boonshoft, Executive Director, American Society for Eighteenth Century Studies, discusses “The Founding-Era Struggle for Public Schools and Informed Citizenship.” Dr. Boonshoft’s talk draws from his recently-published book Aristocratic Education and the Making of the American Republic (University of North Carolina Press, 2020). After the talk, ITPS Public Historian Dr. Michael Crowder joins Dr. Boonshoft for a conversation and audience Q & A session.
