Co-Sponsored by the Institute for Thomas Paine Studies and the Thomas Paine Cottage Museum, Dr. Mark Boonshoft, Executive Director, Virginia Military Institute, discussed “The Founding-Era Struggle for Public Schools and Informed Citizenship.” Dr. Boonshoft’s talk drew from his book Aristocratic Education and the Making of the American Republic (University of North Carolina Press, 2020).
